WBL Teacher Assignment Rules
Teacher assignment rules specify which teaching certificates qualify an individual to teach each course. These rules, as developed by the State Board for Educator Certification, are found in the TEC, Title 19, Part 7, Chapter 231.
- 19 TAC §231.79 assigns rules for middle school career development courses
- 19 TAC §231(e)(9-24) assigns rules for high school CTE course
In order for a teacher to be assigned to a Career Preparation I, Career Preparation II, or practicum classroom, they must hold the certification listed in their subject category in 19 TAC §231(e) and complete training in work-based learning, such as this online course.
