Students will distinguish between undefined terms, definitions, postulates, conjectures, and theorems and investigate patterns to make conjectures about geometric relationships.
Applying Trigonometric Ratios
Given problem situations involving similar figures, the student will apply and justify triangle similarity relationships such as trigonometric ratios.
Rational Functions: Predicting the Effects of Parameter Changes
Given parameter changes for rational functions, students will be able to predict the resulting changes on important attributes of the function, including domain and range and asymptotic behavior.
Using Logical Reasoning to Prove Conjectures about Circles
Given conjectures about circles, the student will use deductive reasoning and counterexamples to prove or disprove the conjectures.
Coordinate Geometry: Special Segments
The student will derive and use the slope and midpoint formulas to verify geometric relationship that include parallelism and perpendicularity of lines. Then, the student will determine an equation of a line parallel or perpendicular to a given line.
Using Models to Solve Equations
Given a problem, the student will use concrete and pictorial models to solve equations and use symbols to record their actions.
Determining Area of Composite Figures
Given composite figures (combinations of rectangles, squares, parallelograms, trapezoids, triangles, semicircles, and quarter circles), students will be able to determine expressions for the area as well as calculate the area of the figure.
Solving Square Root Equations Using Tables and Graphs
Given a square root equation, the student will solve the equation using tables or graphs - connecting the two methods of solution.
Investigating Methods for Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities
Given linear equations and inequalities, the student will investigate methods for solving the equations or inequalities.
