Escribir una carta persuasiva
This lesson was intended to be delivered in a face-to-face classroom environment. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, this lesson has been modified from its original design to be executed in a virtual setting.
This virtual lesson was designed to prepare students to communicate familiar topics in the presentational writing mode in the target language. Students will act as a college advisor and respond to a prospective student’s email regarding housing options. Students will then peer evaluate each other’s writing and provide meaningful feedback using a rubric.
Analyzing Author’s Purpose: Argumentative Text
Students will read a pre-Civil War speech and write author’s purpose statements using the argumentative verbs explain, urge, convince, and encourage.
Teacher in Action
Choose Your Words Wisely!
Students will create a collection using objects, participate in a read-aloud, create another collection using sight word cards, and present their collections to the class.
Teacher reviewing vocabulary words.
Newton's Second Law
Students will work in partners to investigate Newton’s second law by testing a series of experiments with varying conditions.
More Super Duper Math
Students will gather objects to compare quantities and justify their answers pictorially and verbally. They will use their vocabulary posters and accountable talk menus to discuss with their partners.
How Newton's Laws Apply Every Day
Students collaboratively determine how the characteristics of a real-world job correlate with each of Newton’s Laws and why that is relevant to their own lives.
Rise Over Run! Let’s Have Fun!
Students will collaboratively practice identifying and graphing slope and y-intercept.
Equations in the Real World
Students will create and solve equations with variables on one side before comparing the equation with another to determine at what rate they will be equal.
Centers in Subtraction
Students will participate in multiple centers including a guided math center that reinforces subtraction concepts.
Reading Strategies: Choose, Monitor, and Comprehend with Nonfiction Texts
Students will engage in activities that allow them to take a book walk and use criteria to choose a good-fit book, use strategies to self-monitor their own comprehension while independently reading, and use partner talk criteria to reflect on their strategies collaboratively.
Write Right
This research lesson encourages students to become better illustrators and authors. Students will work in collaborative groups and independently to develop drafts.
Reading on the Farm
In learning stations, students collaboratively generate inferences and make predictions about expository text.
Mathematics Achievement Academy: Formative Assessment and Applying the Content Across the Strands, Grades K–1 Trainer Resource
In this training, participants will explore six components of formative assessment and related implementation considerations, and through hands-on activities focusing on measurement and data, make connections to whole number operations and fraction concepts.
Mathematics Achievement Academy: Formative Assessment and Applying the Content Across the Strands, Grades K-1 Participant Resource
This resource contains the materials and documents previously accessed in the Mathematics Achievement Academy: Formative Assessment and Applying the Content Across the Strands, Grades K-1 training.
Mathematics Achievement Academy: Formative Assessment and Applying the Content Across the Strands, Grade 2 Participant Resource
This resource contains the materials and documents previously accessed in the Mathematics Achievement Academy: Formative Assessment and Applying the Content Across the Strands, Grade 2 training.
Grade 7 Math
In this course, students will build understanding of the following modules: Thinking Proportionally, Applying Proportionality, Reasoning Algebraically, Analyzing Populations and Probabilities, and Constructing and Measuring.
Each module is broken up into topics where you will find teacher materials to guide the instruction and the student materials both used in the classroom for learning together and learning individually.
The agency developed these learning resources as a contingency option for school districts during COVID. All resources are optional. Prior to publication, materials go through a rigorous third-party review. Review criteria include TEKS alignment, support for all learners, progress monitoring, implementation supports, and more. Products also are subject to a focus group of Texas educators.
