Product and Quotient Properties of Exponents icon
Product and Quotient Properties of Exponents

Resource ID: txlsr5003
Grade Range: 9
Subject: Math

This lesson helps students understand two foundational exponential properties: The Product and Quotient Properties of Exponents. Students will collaborate to formulate a rule for these properties. Ultimately, students should conclude that when the same bases are being multiplied, exponents will be added; and when the same bases are being divided, exponents will be subtracted. As the lesson progresses, students will apply these rules to simplify expressions of various difficulties.

Introduction to Character Foils icon
Introduction to Character Foils

Resource ID: txlsr4009
Grade Range: 9
Subject: ELA & Reading

During this lesson, students will view video clips and read texts that have character foils examples. Students will complete a graphic organizer with evidence that supports their identification of foil characters. Once complete, students will use the information from the graphic organizer to discuss character foils.

Metacognitive Approaches to Student-based Learning icon
Metacognitive Approaches to Student-based Learning

Resource ID: txlsr5002
Grade Range: 9
Subject: ELA & Reading

In this lesson, students will learn how to make complex inferences and draw conclusions about a work of literary fiction using a combination of text evidence and background knowledge. Using a graphic organizer and a short story, students will record both text evidence and their prior knowledge, and combine these elements to make an inference about the character.

CTE Work-Based Learning

Grade Range: 9 - 12
Subject: CTE

This course introduces basic laws, rules, and procedures relevant to teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that involve work-based learning (WBL) at the secondary school level in Texas. Because state and federal laws change frequently, it also explains how to find current laws, rules, and guidelines related to WBL. Teachers will learn what authentic WBL is and how to ensure students learn the skills and knowledge appropriate for their career pathway through collaborative partnerships with local employers. This material is available for view only in the Texas Gateway and a certificate is not awarded. Referenced quizzes are not available.

Mendelian Genetics Using Monohybrids icon
Mendelian Genetics Using Monohybrids

Resource ID: txlsr4002
Grade Range: 9
Subject: Science

Students will work collaboratively through a fictitious, real-world scenario to determine the probability of each breeding pair of dogs producing offspring with the desired trait for a fictitious client.

Proving an Ecosystems Health Through Succession icon
Proving an Ecosystem’s Health Through Succession

Resource ID: txlsr11020
Grade Range: 9
Subject: Science

Students engage in viewing day three of ecosystem changes in lab groups to determine if the ecosystem is healthy or unhealthy based on scientific data and factors.

Sparking Curiosity and Wonder Making Complex Inferences icon
Sparking Curiosity and Wonder: Making Complex Inferences

Resource ID: txls022
Grade Range: 9
Subject: ELA & Reading

Students will learn how to activate their curiosity and use questioning strategies to make complex inferences and connections across texts.

Themes in Hamlet icon
Themes in Hamlet

Resource ID: txlsr08001
Grade Range: 9
Subject: ELA & Reading

Students will make inferences about themes from the play, use textual evidence from the play to support their inferences using the CASE model, and will make a praise and criticism for peer answers.

DNA Sequencing icon
DNA Sequencing

Resource ID: txls128
Grade Range: 9
Subject: Science

In this lesson, students will investigate how gene expression is a regulated process controlled by DNA and the interpretations of codons through translation.

Up Up and Away icon
Up, Up, and Away

Resource ID: txls026
Grade Range: 9

Students will determine an appropriate tabular/graphic/formulaic linear solution given 3 sets of data points.

How Authors Develop Complex Yet Believable Characters in Drama by Contrasting Characters icon
How Authors Develop Complex Yet Believable Characters in Drama by Contrasting Characters

Resource ID: txls003
Grade Range: 9
Subject: ELA & Reading

The students will identify characteristics of characters from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, explain why the characters are foils to each other, and use text evidence to support their understanding.

Laws of Exponents icon

Energy Transfer in an Ecosystem icon
Energy Transfer in an Ecosystem

Resource ID: txls075
Grade Range: 9
Subject: Science

All matter contains energy. Energy can be transferred from one object to another. Energy transformation can occur through the conversion of energy from one form to another. Energy is never created nor destroyed; it is always transferred and/or transformed. Students will demonstrate how energy is transformed and transferred in an ecosystem. To do this, students will create energy pyramids by stacking cups that represent organisms and available amounts of energy. Students will graph and analyze the data.
