Students will participate in stations with board games that reinforce rhyming, onset, and rimes, and blending.

Students will explore frequency tables, dot plots, and stem and leaf plots by creating different representations from a given set of data points.

Students participate in an activity where they must link cause and effect statements using transition words. The lesson is designed with English learners in mind, and it includes instructional strategies designed to provide comprehensible input, such as visuals and collaborative learning.
Balancing Act
Students use a pan balance model and manipulatives to identify a total that balances two parts. The use of the pan balance will help to develop the concept of equality. Students will develop the language of equality by reading and identifying the following expressions; balances, is the same as, is equal to, and equal before the symbol for equality is introduced. Students will identify an unknown part in a balance situation. Students will communicate ideas, explain, and justify how they solved problems.
Drumming Up Some Sound Energy!
Students will explore sound energy by creating their own drums using a variety of materials. Then, students will listen for the loud and soft sounds that each of the drums creates.
The Shapes Around Us
Students will make connections between real-world objects and the attributes of two-dimensional shapes.
Are Letters Important?
Students will use alphabet cards to create consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words and encode and decode given CVC words.
Centers in Subtraction
Students will participate in multiple centers including a guided math center that reinforces subtraction concepts.
Revising for Coherence
Students will use a checklist to peer edit a composition. They will check for coherence through the proper use of transition words and conjunctions.
Reading Strategies: Choose, Monitor, and Comprehend with Nonfiction Texts
Students will engage in activities that allow them to take a book walk and use criteria to choose a good-fit book, use strategies to self-monitor their own comprehension while independently reading, and use partner talk criteria to reflect on their strategies collaboratively.
Let's Analyze and Compute Fractions!
Students will compare fractions with unlike denominators to determine whether a given answer to a real-world problem is correct using context and computational skills.
Running the Race with Equivalent Fractions
Students will relate positions on a relay track to a number line. Through discovery, the students will be able to identify and represent fractions and equivalent fractions on a number line.
Avoiding Common Subtraction Errors
Students will perform an error analysis of common subtraction errors related to the standard algorithm.
Discovering the Power of a Complete Sentence
Students will discover the necessary components of a complete sentence and use the complete subject and complete predicate in their own writing through a process called ratiocination.

Fun with First Drafts
The lesson will support students’ writing a first draft of a personal narrative story by providing opportunities to listen to their previously recorded story, review their (graphic organizer) draft web, and add sticky notes with further details to their webs.
Make a Hit with Decimals
Students will compare and order decimals using baseball batting statistics. Through discovery, students will determine the top six out of eleven players to be recruited for the school’s baseball team, present their findings, and explain reasons for their orderings. From students’ explanation, strategies for ordering decimals will be determined and used to adjust subsequent lessons.

My Version of the Three Little Pigs
Students will create their own version of "The Three Little Pigs" using story elements on a Beginning, Middle, End (BME) story map. First, students will draft their story map with detailed pictures in sequential order, and then go back and add their words later. Once their story is completed, students will be able to retell their story to peers and their teacher.
