    The CTE 101: Career and Technical Education course returns to the Texas Gateway on March 11, 2016.This course provides an overview of Career and Technical Education in Texas and how it is implemented at the state and local levels. Teachers who are not certified in CTE and have been assigned to teach one of the CTE courses for mathematics or science credit must complete CTE 101. CTE-certified teachers may complete CTE 101, but it is not a requirement. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn 4 CPE credits.

    The Online Texas Adolescent Literacy Academies (TALA) prepare middle school teachers to design appropriate instruction for all students, including those who struggle with reading due to limited English proficiency, learning disabilities, dyslexia, and other risk factors for reading difficulties. This series of resources (Tiers II & III) includes a diagnostic and progress-monitoring instrument along with guidance for intensive interventions targeting the needs of struggling adolescent readers.

This course is designed to supplement a district or campus-led safety training that also includes hands-on training with safety equipment such as eye wash stations, fire blankets, lab equipment, etc. Districts and campuses should also plan for hands-on practice with students as they learn safety procedures in the science classroom.     It is important to know the dangers of bloodborne diseases. It is even more important to know how to protect oneself and others from catching or spreading these diseases. Bloodborne pathogens such as bacteria and viruses are present in blood and body fluids and can cause disease in humans. The purpose of this course is to educate staff professionals about bloodborne pathogens and exposure control plans to prevent the spread of these diseases.
